Simple explanation of Ron Pauls views on military bases overseas

Here is a simple explanation of Ron Paul’s view on military bases overseas.

This is how I think of it, it is probably not quite what Ron Paul believes, but this is a simple explanation.

After World War II we fought a cold war against USSR. It took a long time to move troops and missiles didn’t go very far. So to keep world peace we needed strategic missiles as close to the USSR as possible.

Fast forward to today. Missiles travel across the world in minutes. The USSR and communism has been defeated. No one is trying to take over the world. Countries that are against us are small and run by dictators who have been in power a long time and whose one goal is to keep power until they die in peace in old age like King Jong Il.

So Ron Paul wants to bring our troops home.

Imagine that someone doesn’t like your neighbor, so he comes to your house and stays in your guest bedroom he pays you for the room. He spies on your neighbor all day and upsets them. You didn’t have a problem with them. Then he ignores your house rules. However you can’t legally kick him out. What do you do? How do you feel?

  1. I recently learned of Joel C. Rosenberg when he was featured on Anne Graham Lotz's special 9/11 webcast and have read 3 of his books, 2 fiction/1 nonfiction since then.

I would love to hear your response about the following post that I copied from Joel Rosenberg's blog dated 12/22/2011, since it's the polar opposite (here's the actual link http://flashtrafficblog.wordpress.com/ :

The latest poll out of Iowa shows Texas Congressman Ron Paul in the lead. This is troubling at many levels. Rep. Paul deserves credit for advocating sound money, a serious review of the Fed, and dramatically reduced federal spending. But as I’ve written before [and recently updated], Paul would be a terrible Commander-in-Chief and gets an “F” when it comes his Iran policy. Paul doesn’t understand the nuclear threat posed by the radical regime in Iran. He doesn’t understand the supremacy of martyrdom in the Iranian leadership’s value system. He doesn’t understand the genocidal, apocalyptic nature of Shia End Times theology. In fact, Paul takes an appeasement approach towards Iran. What’s more, he would severely slash military funding, zero out U.S. support for Israel, and take us into an isolationist foreign policy, even as the threat from Radical Islam worsens. Will GOP voters follow this disastrous approach? I pray not.

Consider this illuminating exchange between Fox News anchor Bret Baier and Rep. Paul where Paul happily concedes that if he were to win the GOP nomination, he would be “to the left of President Obama” on the Iran issue.
